Exciting Opportunity: 2IC – Settlements & Operations (Financial Markets)
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual to join the Settlements team at a leading financial markets institution. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for someone looking to step up into a leadership position, drive operational excellence, and play a key role in process improvements and efficiencies across the function.
About the Role:
As the 2IC – Settlements & Operations, you will work closely with the Settlements Manager to ensure the seamless execution of Domestic and International Equity and Exchange Traded Options settlements. Beyond daily processing, you will take on a leadership role, identifying areas for improvement, streamlining workflows, and enhancing risk controls.
You'll be working alongside a highly successful team of seven, with the opportunity to mentor junior team members, influence change, and make a lasting impact within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overseeing and executing daily settlements, including batch files, RTGS payments, and International Payments (SWIFT)
* Driving process improvements and operational efficiencies within the Settlements function
* Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal risk frameworks
* Monitoring and maintaining Trust Balances and conducting reconciliations
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders for all settlement-related queries
* Providing leadership support to the Settlements Manager and acting as their second-in-command (2IC)
* Mentoring and assisting junior team members, fostering a high-performing team environment
* Managing settlement reports and ensuring accurate, timely execution of all transactions
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* 2+ years of experience in Cash Settlements or Payments, ideally within financial markets
* Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
* Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience
* Intermediate to advanced skills in Word and Excel
* Tertiary qualification in Finance (advantageous)
* A proactive, team-oriented mindset with leadership potential
Location: North Sydney (Hybrid working - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home)
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 + Super (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Eligibility: Must have full-time permanent working rights
