About the opportunity
Based in Perth's northern metropolitan area on a Monday to Friday roster, Altrad is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of a major SMP infrastructure construction project. This position offers the opportunity to lead site‐based execution activities on a significant project while maintaining a stable Perth‐based working arrangement. Forming part of the Project's Senior Leadership Team, this role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and coordinated delivery of construction works across multiple fronts, ensuring alignment between planning, engineering, and on‐site execution. In addition, you will interface closely with the client, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams to drive effective communication, resolve issues proactively, and ensure the smooth progression of works throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all on‐site construction activities across SMP scopes, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
* Oversee and coordinate supervisors, superintendents, and subcontractors to drive aligned delivery outcomes.
* Work closely with project engineering and planning teams to implement practical construction strategies.
* Act as the primary interface between site execution teams and key stakeholders, including the client.
* Manage subcontractor performance, including mobilisation, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.
* Drive planning, scheduling, and short‐term lookaheads to ensure works are delivered on time and to plan.
* Navigate SIMOPS and complex construction environments with a strong focus on safety, sequencing, and efficiency.
* Contribute to commercial outcomes through effective resource management, cost control, and issue resolution.
* Promote and lead a strong HSEQ culture across all construction activities.
About you
You are a confident construction leader who thrives in fast‐paced site environments, bringing teams together to deliver safe, efficient, and high‐quality outcomes across complex SMP projects. You lead from the front, balancing safety, productivity, and stakeholder expectations to drive successful project delivery.
* Significant experience in construction management within SMP projects, with strong exposure to structural, mechanical, and piping scopes with a value of $50m+.
* Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary site teams, including supervisors, superintendents, and subcontractors.
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and SIMOPS within brownfield and live operating environments.
* Demonstrated experience delivering complex works on site, with a focus on execution, constructability, and productivity.
* Well‐developed stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively interface with clients and internal teams.
* Experience managing subcontractors, including performance, safety, and compliance with project requirements.
* Sound commercial awareness, with the ability to manage resources, monitor costs, and contribute to overall project performance.
* Working knowledge of construction planning and scheduling, including short‐term lookaheads and alignment with master programmes.
* Strong commitment to HSEQ leadership, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance across all construction activities.
