The opportunity:
Visy Logistics, part of the wider Visy Group, is a significant international freight operator. As part of our integrated, end-to-end freight and logistics offering we provide import, export and cross-trade shipping services globally, via our extensive office and agent network. Our comprehensive international freight services include international sea freight, air freight, freight forwarding, container transport, customs clearance and coastal shipping.
Due to the fast growth of the business, we are seeking an accomplished Safety and Wellbeing Manager to join our team in Wiri, Auckland on a permanent full-time basis. As our new Safety and Wellbeing Manager you will play a pivotal role across New Zealand, partnering closely with Visy Logistics New Zealand Leadership Team, to cultivate a culture of safety through exemplary leadership and proactive safety measures. Reporting to the GM, Global Safety, Development, Design, and Implementation your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
4. Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs for our NZ operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
5. Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls to mitigate risks.
6. Investigate safety incidents to determine the root cause and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
7. Engage people at all levels in the business, coaching and challenging behaviours to achieve a high level of performance and consistent and appropriate HSE behaviours.
8. Develop and execute HSE training programs to ensure all employees are adequately trained in safety protocols and procedures.
9. Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and promote the organization's HSE initiatives.
What you will bring to the team:
As our new Safety and Wellbeing Manager, you will hold a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, related Discipline or equivalent. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in safety leadership roles within the logistics, warehousing, or transportation industry is essential. Knowledge of NZ Heavy Vehicle Standards including Chain of Responsibility is also required. Your strong people management skills and demonstrated record to drive continuous improvement, and enhance overall safety and wellbeing practices, will set you up for success in this role.
