A large nationally operating FMCG business is seeking an experienced Credit Supervisor / Credit Team Leader to lead its credit and collection's function. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing credit risk, optimising cash flow, and guiding a high performing credit team in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting to a senior Credit Manager, you will balance hands on credit decision making with people leadership, while maintaining strong internal and customer relationships.
Your role
You will oversee end to end credit management and collections, ensuring policy compliance, timely order release, and strong aged debt outcomes. You'll also play a critical role in coaching and developing the credit team, including offshore resources.
Key responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and support a team of Credit Officers
* Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training and development needs
* Drive accountability and performance against collection and aged debt targets
* Credit assessment
* Assess and approve credit applications for new and existing customers
* Analyse financial statements, credit reports and market conditions to assess risk
* Manage blocked orders and release in line with credit policy
* Accounts receivable & collections
* Negotiate arrears payment arrangements within policy guidelines
* Monitor aged receivables and implement strategies to reduce overdue debt and bad debts
* Maintain strong customer relationships and resolve credit related enquiries promptly
* Support escalation of high-risk accounts where required
About you
You are a confident, commercially minded credit professional with proven leadership experience. You're comfortable making decisions, influencing outcomes, and leading a team in a dynamic FMCG or high-volume environment.
Skills & experience
* Minimum 5+ years' experience in a credit leadership or team leader role
* Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and credit management principles
* Experience in fast paced, high-volume environments (FMCG or similar desirable)
* Exposure to ERP systems and modern credit technologies
* Experience managing or working with offshore teams (highly regarded)
* Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field (preferred, not essential)
* Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
