You'll play a vital role in protecting and promoting community health across Darling Downs. From preventing public health risks to guiding businesses and communities toward safer practices, your work will directly support healthier environments and better outcomes for people across the region. You'll collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team and build strong relationships with councils, industry and community stakeholders.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
Safeguarding public health through inspections, investigations and risk assessment activities that prevent harm before it occurs
Working alongside local partners to educate, advise and support compliance with environmental health standards
Responding to environmental and public health concerns with sound judgement, professionalism and compassion
Contributing practical ideas and evidence-informed solutions that strengthen regional health outcomes

Eligibility for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer, including relevant qualifications and registration
Demonstrated experience applying environmental or public health principles in real-world settings
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with diverse stakeholders
A values-led approach aligned with compassion, dignity and accountability
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in regional or rural settings and/or additional training in public or environmental health.
