Job Description

AECOM's Water Business Line across the East Coast of Australia is experiencing sustained growth, underpinned by a strong pipeline of water infrastructure projects and a commitment to delivering future-focused outcomes for communities and clients alike. We are the trusted global infrastructure leader, offering design, engineering, and advisory services that shape the way water and related assets are planned, built and operated.

Why AECOM?

At AECOM, infrastructure creates opportunity — and in water, that means delivering solutions that enhance resilience, reliability, and sustainability for communities across Australia. Joining us means:

* Opportunity to work on high-impact water and tunnelling projects, from water underground assets to major conveyance and treatment works.

* Collaborative, multidisciplinary teams that span design, construction, advisory, and operations phases.

* Career growth and technical development, supported by industry leaders and world-class practices.

* Flexible work options including hybrid work, flexible hours, and relocation support.

* A culture of inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging — where your unique perspectives help us create better outcomes.

* Access to global expertise and local impact — work with teams across Australia and internationally.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

We are inviting expressions of interest from professionals at all career stages — from recent graduates and emerging engineers to established technical specialists and senior leaders — with expertise in Ground Engineering and Tunnelling across the water sector.

This includes, but is not limited to:

* Geotechnical / Ground Engineering specialists

* Tunnelling Engineers, Design & Construction Leads

* Tunnel Project Managers / Technical Leads

* Principal / Senior Ground & Tunnelling Engineers

* Field and Site Engineers (Geotech / Tunnels)

* Modelling, Site Investigation & Groundwater Specialists

* Construction Support, QA & Risk/Contract Specialists

* Geotechnical and Tunnelling Technical Advisors and SMEs

Whether your passion lies in challenging ground conditions, complex subsurface works, retaining structures, or advanced tunnelling methodologies — we want to hear from you.

Where you could work

We have opportunities (based on project needs and candidates' preferences) across multiple cities on the East Coast — including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne — with flexible working arrangements and hybrid models where appropriate.

What we're looking for

We welcome expressions of interest from candidates with:

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering or associated disciplines.

* Demonstrated experience or interest in ground engineering and/or tunnelling within water, civil or underground infrastructure contexts.

* A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong teamwork skills.

* Professional registration (e.g., CPEng), chartership or equivalent recognised experience (desired — not essential).

* Capability to contribute technically and strategically at project, program or network level.

Don't worry if you don't meet every bullet — if you're passionate about this field and want to explore where you fit, we want to hear from you.

Additional Information

Why you'll love working with us

* Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, part-time, job-sharing and hybrid work options
* Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year
* Major projects with diverse career pathways in global leading consultancy
* Volunteer and representation leave
* Flex public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better
