Senior Legal Counsel
About the role
This is a newly created opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to join a global organisation as its first lawyer based in Australia. The business operates a portfolio of market‐leading software and technology companies and continues to grow through a highly acquisitive strategy. Legal is viewed as a commercial partner to the business and is closely involved in supporting both day‐to‐day operations and strategic growth initiatives. While locally positioned, the role forms part of an established international legal team comprising seven lawyers across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will enjoy the autonomy and visibility that comes with being the local legal lead, whilst remaining supported by experienced colleagues globally.
Day to day
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Australia and internationally, responsibilities will include:
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements
* Advising on customer, supplier and procurement arrangements
* Supporting acquisition and corporate transaction activity
* Assisting with integration and strategic growth projects
* Corporate governance and general commercial advisory matters
* Managing legal risk and partnering with stakeholders across the business
About You
You are likely to have:
* Ideally 7+ years' post‐admission experience
* Strong commercial contracting experience
* A practical and commercial approach to problem solving
* Exposure to corporate transactions, private treaty M&A or strategic projects
* The confidence to operate autonomously and build trusted stakeholder relationships
* Experience within, or an interest in, the technology sector
