Position Overview:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join a well-established and successful firm based in Hobart, Tasmania. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience in private practice, with strong technical expertise in auditing, taxation, and self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs).
Key Responsibilities:
Audit & Assurance:
* Plan, execute, and finalise external audits for a diverse client base including not-for-profits, private companies, and trusts.
* Identify and resolve audit issues efficiently.
* Ensure audits are completed in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards.
Taxation:
* Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships, and trusts.
* Provide high-quality tax planning and compliance advice to clients.
* Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation and ensure ongoing compliance.
Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs):
* Prepare financial statements and tax returns for SMSFs.
* Ensure compliance with SIS regulations and ATO requirements.
* Liaise with auditors and trustees as required.
Client Management:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
* Provide strategic financial advice and insights to help clients achieve their goals.
* Identify new opportunities for client services and business development.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a private practice accounting firm.
* Proficient in Audit, Tax, and SMSF compliance.
* Tertiary qualification in accounting or related discipline.
* Member of CA ANZ or CPA Australia (or working towards full membership).
* Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, tax legislation, and superannuation laws.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, My Workpapers).
