_About the Role_
We are looking to hire support workers mainly for a male client in Wellard, and if available the potential to pick up shifts in other houses in the area. The role of the Support Worker is to work with clients within the NDIS funding framework, assisting them to achieve their goals and increase their independence and participation within the community. You will provide support to a man to and from Rockingham hospital in your own vehicle, take him to his appointments and bring him home, you may also be asked to take him out on social/community assistance such a bowling or other activities. You will promote and demonstrate positive behaviours and decision making to the client and assist with socialising.
- Preferred Experience_
Our clients will work best with support staff who are able to keep them engaged with various community services or in the home, providing them with adequate assistance in keeping their lives full and interactive in waking hours and assisting them in following sleep schedules and morning routines. The right support worker may also be put in other premises, and be assisting the client to be involved in all aspects of their own care, including participating in meal planning and cooking, daily activities and hobbies and enouraging them to form good habits. This preference would require support workers who are used to dealing with challenging behaviours and are adept at assisting the clients with their full attention at all times.
Preferred at least 6 months - 1 year experience, and a Cert III or higher in disability or a similar field.
- Key duties include:_
- Taking clients out for social outings and activities, dinner or errands.
- Providing personal care.
- Domestic duties and meal preparation/eating assistance.
- Challenging behaviour management
- Medication Administration
- Skills & Experience_
- As well as the above skills, the Key Requirements include:_
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and 4x Module Completion
- Manual Handling Certificate
- First-Aid/CPR Training Certificate
- Proof of working rights - Passport, Visa, Citizenship
- Valid West Australian driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Working with Children Check issued in Western Australia.
