Join the Circus (seriously)
We're the Flying Fruit Fly Circus – Australia's National Youth Circus and the only full-time circus school for kids aged 8–19. From Albury to Melbourne, we mix flips, tricks and schoolbooks to train the next generation of circus performers.
We're looking for a talented Finance Manager to join our team in Albury (or remotely, if you can bring great systems and remote-finance capability) at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus – Australia's national youth circus and a truly unique workplace. This is an exciting time to join the company and help set the agenda as we bring the finance function in-house.
In this role, you'll:
* Take ownership of our in-house finance function, delivering timely, accurate information that enables bold artistic and organisational decisions.
* Lead month-end and management reporting, turning complex numbers into clear, useful insights for the Executive and Board
* Strengthen and streamline our financial systems in Xero, embedding robust processes, controls and workflows that support a growing organisation
* Oversee payroll (delivered by an external provider) and ensure our statutory obligations, including GST/BAS, superannuation and other compliance, are met on time, every time
* Partner with senior staff on budgeting, forecasting and cash flow, helping us plan confidently for tours, productions and long-term growth
* Play a key role in audit preparation, grant acquittals and funder reporting so we can continue to attract and retain vital support
We're looking for someone with:
* CPA or CA qualification and solid experience in management or financial accounting, ideally in a small-to-medium or not-for-profit organisation
* Demonstrated capability in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls, including working with Boards or Finance Subcommittees
* Hands-on experience using Xero (or similar cloud-based systems) to manage day-to-day finance, produce management reports and improve processes
* Strong analytical skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach – you can see the detail and the bigger picture
* Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to explain finance clearly to non-finance colleagues
* High levels of initiative, integrity and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a part-time role
Even if you don't meet every box, apply anyway – we love a wildcard.
What's in it for you?
We're all about people first

and that includes you. In return, you'll enjoy:
* Genuine flexibility to manage your life, your way – this role could suit a 5 hour work day.
* The chance to be part of meaningful, creative work that makes a real difference
* An organisation that supports your wellbeing from all angles (including access to a free, confidential EAP)
* Annual flu shots to help keep you feeling your best
* Enjoy the security and stability of a long-established organisation, with the rare opportunity to stay connected to live performance while maintaining strong work-life balance.
