The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is an independent Commonwealth statutory authority responsible for the regulation of broadcasting, radiocommunications, telecommunications and some online content.This work underpins our vision for a connected, informed and entertained Australia.Who we areThe Digital and Technology Services (DTS) branch contributes to the success of the ACMA by supporting employees through the provision of core ICT functions and the delivery of a coordinated program of Digital and Technology projects to internal and external stakeholders. As an enabling service, DTS works with the ACMA through the provision of specialised ICT systems, exploring digital business opportunities, and supporting ACMA enquiry handling and service delivery via the Customer Services Centre and online channels.The ICT Platform Services and Support Section (IPSS) is a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. The objective of our team is to deliver a professional operations capability, ensuring the security, maintenance, availability, and reliability of the agency's ICT platforms across both cloud and on-premises environments.About the roleThe Network and Systems Engineer is a high performing engineering role encompassing people, program and stakeholder management responsibilities. This role works with a considerable degree of independence and under broad direction.As a Network and Systems Engineer, you will be expected to:Develop, operate and maintain the ACMA’s network infrastructure environments, ensuring support standards are met.Deliver a range of services using Cisco’s ecosystem and integration with other Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products and services, (including Fortinet suite of products, DWDM, Umbrella).Uplifting and maintaining Essential 8 principles within the ACMA’s operating environment.Provide expert engineering guidance and leadership within one or more technology domains.Monitor and manage network services provided by third party providers.Support and troubleshoot network issues within a software defined network framework.Develop and maintain standard operating procedure documents for the ACMA’s network environment.You will have a strong understanding of Security-first solutions and best working practices within the ICT environment. The Network and Systems Engineer will develop, manage, and maintain a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships and professional networks. This role will suit an individual who has a diverse Cisco networking background and has a willingness to develop core skill within the Microsoft Azure Cloud ecosystem related to networking services.To be eligible for employment with ACMA, applicants must be an Australian citizen.Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
