The Team

Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. NTPS aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at NTPS comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.


The Role

Assist the Medical scientist-in-charge in Microbiology with the efficient running of the department and undertaking assigned tasks to meet departmental objectives. The role will also require liaising with Pathologists, Laboratory manager, other departmental staff and clinical staff as part of their normal duties.


You will need

Multidisciplinary working experience within a Microbiology department; Experience of working in a team environment; Post graduate qualification relevant to Microbiology will be an advantage.

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.

Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.


Salary

$73,834 to $111,364 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2022.


Salary Packaging

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.


Allowances

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Professional Development Allowance of up to $1,000 per annum.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

* Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution
* Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology
* Where these is no relevant professional body, the essential qualification must be met

* Membership/Fellowship awarded by a recognised professional body
