This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. Key Responsibilities
Based on the Queensland Department of Education's generic School Technical Officer (TO2/TO3) role description, the successful candidate will:
* Oversee and maintain the school's ICT infrastructure, including acquisition, installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of systems
* Provide technical advice and hands-on support for staff and students using ICT equipment (laptops, desktops, iPads, printers, etc.), aligned with departmental and manufacturer standards
* Deliver in-service training to staff in applying ICT tools effectively to enhance student learning
* Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly, maintaining a customer-focused approach
* Conduct preventative maintenance, as well as routine and emergency repairs to ICT facilities
* Keep accurate records of technical services, inventory, and maintenance activities
* Work collaboratively with regional and central support staff to troubleshoot and manage complex technical issues
* Support network infrastructure: switches, wireless access points, data outlets, and cabling (depending on local expectations)
Candidate Profile
The following skills and attributes will be highly regarded:
* Proven experience in supporting and maintaining ICT systems, including hardware, software, and peripherals.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
* Commitment to providing excellent customer service for both students and staff.
* Ability to deliver training or coaching to staff in the use of ICT tools.
* Knowledge of server hardware configuration and networking systems (LAN, WAN, wireless)
* Experience with remote support tools, or managing workstations and servers remotely
* Understanding of network security protocols
