Salary: 75,000 to 85,000 AUD plus superannuation
Australian Livestock Farms PTY LTD is an established livestock/farming enterprise committed to innovation in animal production, precision agriculture technology and sustainability. We are seeking a skilled Agricultural Technician to join our team and support farm operations through applied agritech and livestock production techniques.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to (and may be varied):
- Assist in the installation, programming, testing, maintenance and operational use of agritech systems on the farm.
- Provide technical support for livestock production: monitoring feed conversion, growth rates, health data and assisting in breeding programs under supervision.
- Analyse production data, support decision-making for feeding regimes, pasture management and livestock welfare.
- Examine soil, pasture and environmental conditions, identifying nutrient deficiencies, recommending input adjustments and supporting crop/forage production where relevant.
- Identify pests, parasites, weeds, pathogens affecting livestock or feed/pasture, and assist management in implementing control regimes.
- Advise on and support the adoption of new technologies, data systems and farm management software to optimise productivity and sustainability.
- Maintain accurate records (equipment logs, production data, technical reports), prepare technical summaries for farm management.
- Work collaboratively with farm managers, agronomists and service providers to improve systems and processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Minimum diploma level relevant qualification
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the related field
- Ability to collect data, maintain accurate records, and follow technical procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare technical reports and interact with farm management and service providers.
- Good understanding of livestock production systems, feed monitoring, animal health, and pasture/feed management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rural environment.
