The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator/Site Supervisor to join our small team.

This is a multi-dimensional role encompassing all aspects of both on-site assessments, as well as on-site and office based project supervision.

Site assessment component - To effectively, efficiently and accurately carry out site assessments, including but not limited to; the comprehension of site conditions, understanding of insurance policy interpretation, determination of cause of damage, and required repair of reported damage, as well as writing of reports and scopes of work. As well as to effectively, efficiently and accurately carry out all required project supervision duties, including but not limited to; sub-contractor appointment, site supervision, customer contact, quality control, job cost control, problem solving, dispute resolution and customer service.

Whilst working predominantly in the Insurance Repair/Assessing sector, as part of a small team the successful applicant will have the opportunity to be heavily involved in every sector of our company – including company growth/expansion.

The Estimator/Site Supervisor will possesses a demonstrable level of competency in building and repair methodology, report writing, scope of work writing, and estimating as well as the ability to sustain and establish relationships both internally and externally.

Although not a necessity, an understanding of insurance building repair principles, and general insurance sector experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities/Duties

* Inspect and assess various types of properties with a critical eye for detail.
* Prepare detailed, clear and concise causation reports, accompanied by captioned photos and accurate, detailed scopes of work.
* Provide accurate itemised cost of repairs.
* Review and interpret specialist reports/building plans.
* Liaise with Clients, Sub-contractors, Admin staff and Directors on any project/claim matters, ensuring customer service is not compromised.
* Oversight and management of the repair process including cost control.

Skills, Qualifications and experience

* Hold Australian residency
* Computer literacy and navigational skills around multiple systems in a windows-based environment, including the Microsoft Office suite and with mainframe systems
* Positive and confident attitude underpinned by a customer first philosophy.
* Tenacious with a sense of urgency.
* Able to establish and sustain positive working relationships.
* Good understanding of building construction and methodology which can be well written.
* Courteous, respectful and empathetic.
* Extensive time management and organisational skill and experience.
* High standard of ethics within professional and business relationships.
* Advanced written communication, verbal communication and active listening skills.
* Sound administration and computer skills.
* Experience in interpreting and delivering to KPI's

Essential criteria

* Completed or studying Certificate IV in Building Construction Estimation/Supervision or higher
* Trade qualified in carpentry or estimating experience (Highly regarded).
* Extensive knowledge of Queensland building laws and regulations or the ability to locate and interpret relevant codes and standards as required.
* Experience in Insurance repairs (Highly regarded).
* Construction Industry Safety Certificate (White Card).
* Police Check Clearance.
* High degree of Computer Literacy required.
* Open C Class Queensland driver's licence.
* Demonstrable client relationship skills.
