Job Opportunity:

Aerospace Medicine Specialists and Flight Surgeons serve as primary care physicians for pilots and crew members operating in air or space.

Key Responsibilities Include:

* Conducting medical examinations and providing healthcare services for air and missile crews
* Evaluating fitness for flying and special duties, including assessing living and working environments to detect and control health hazards
* Participating in regular flying missions to observe and advise on aeromedical issues
* Developing and managing preventive medicine programs, such as educating flight personnel on healthy lifestyles
* Establishing procedures for managing casualties in aviation accidents and other disasters
* Providing guidance on aeromedical evacuation and serving on aviation mishap investigation boards
* Serving as a liaison between flying squadrons and medical services

Qualifications:

* Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited program of postgraduate specialty training in aerospace medicine
* Proficiency in adult primary care medicine
* Hold a current, active, permanent and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state or territory of the United States or in the District of Columbia
* Must possess an aeronautical rating of Flight Surgeon, Senior Flight Surgeon, or Chief Flight Surgeon
