We are seeking interest from individuals who are experienced trade assistants to join our team at our Ballarat site. Reporting to the Production manager, this role would see you perform all train related tasks to complete the assembly of the train, where no day will be the same but you will have plenty of opportunities to progress through the levels if you wish.
Responsibilities:
- Read, apply technical documentation supplied.
- Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools.
- Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical systems and components installed in the railway car.
- Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components.
- Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality.
- Remove and replace defective parts and components.
- Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Trade assistant within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Ability to be able to interpret technical diagrams & drawings.
- High risk tickets or licences (EWP, working at heights etc) would be advantageous (but not mandatory).
