The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Estimator to join a growing construction business and play a key role across the full project lifecycle. Reporting to senior project leadership, this role is responsible for producing accurate, competitive estimates and supporting tendering, budgeting, and financial control to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to scope.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Analysing drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates across building and civil projects.
* Completing quantity take-offs for labour, materials, plant, and subcontract works, ensuring scope completeness and alignment with project requirements.
* Conducting site inspections and on-site assessments to understand project conditions, risks, and logistical constraints.
* Leading tender preparation and submissions in collaboration with project managers, including responding to post-tender clarifications.
* Liaising with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure comprehensive scope coverage.
* Identifying project risks, allowances, and contingencies and incorporating them into estimates and tender strategies.
* Maintaining cost databases and historical pricing information, including regional pricing considerations.
* Supporting the finance team with project budget preparation and providing clear cost reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
* Providing technical and commercial input during project delivery, including variations, procurement assessments, and financial administration support.
Your Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in an Estimator role within the building and construction industry.
* Demonstrated experience estimating civil subdivisions and/or multi-story residential projects.
* Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
* Working knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and legislation, including WHS requirements.
* Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, with exposure to SharePoint and MS Project highly regarded.
* Experience with industry software including Procore and EstimateOne also highly regarded.
* Ability to work with regional pricing schedules and an understanding of logistical constraints in regional or remote environments.
* A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
* Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
* High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
