Mining Engineer – Open Pit & Underground | Kalgoorlie
Black Cat Syndicate Limited is a growing gold producer with operating assets at Kal East and Paulsen's, supported by an active development and exploration pipeline.
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Mining Engineer to join the site‐based technical team at Kal East.
This opportunity is open to engineers with experience in open pit and/or underground mining and is well suited to someone who enjoys being close to the operation and working collaboratively with site teams to deliver safe, practical and efficient mining outcomes.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Mine Manager (Open Pit / Underground) you will support the day‐to‐day delivery of mining activities through effective planning, design and on‐site technical support.
This is a hands‐on role where your work will directly influence production performance. You will work closely with operations, geology, survey and maintenance teams to ensure mine plans are realistic, executable and aligned with site priorities.
The role provides exposure across both operational execution and forward planning, with the opportunity to build versatility across open pit and underground environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain short‐term and medium‐term mine plans
* Support mine design activities for open pit, underground or transition phases
* Prepare and review drill and blast designs and schedules (where applicable)
* Provide technical support to site teams to improve plan compliance and productivity
* Monitor and analyse production performance, costs and dilution
* Participate in risk assessments, design reviews and technical studies
* Contribute to mine planning inputs for budgets, forecasts and life‐of‐mine planning
About You
You're a practical and motivated mining engineer who enjoys working in an operational environment and contributing directly to site performance.
You'll bring
* A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
* Experience in open pit and/or underground mining operations
* Practical mine planning experience with exposure to live operations
* Familiarity with mine planning software such as Deswik or simuliar
* Strong problem‐solving skills and a delivery‐focused mindset
* Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
* Ability to work effectively in a site‐based FIFO or residential role
