About The School
Normanton State School is a remote, rural school that offers learning experiences for students from Prep to Year 10. We are a co-educational school and we cater for students with a range of learning needs and interests.
We focus on improving student literacy and numeracy outcomes. Our teachers base their curriculum on the Australian Curriculum using the Curriculum to Classroom (C2C) resources in all key learning areas. Students have specialist lessons in The Arts (Dance, Drama and Visual Arts), Technology (Digital and Design), ICT Skills and Health and Physical Education from Prep to Year 10. Our Secondary students do a range of subjects including Manual Arts and Home Economics in Years 7 and 8, and Hospitality and Industrial Technology and Design in Years 9 and 10. Year 9 and 10 students also participate in work experience twice yearly.
Throughout the year we present a number of programs and extracurricular activities to support our curriculum. Recent programs have included drama, music and a range of sport. These are funded through our RREAP (Remote and Rural Education Access Program).
