Systems Technician – Build Custom Environmental Monitoring Systems
At Acoem Australasia, we build technology that helps protect the environment and communities. From air quality to emissions and industrial monitoring, our work supports major infrastructure projects and Tier 1 clients across Australia.
We are looking for a Systems Technician to join our Manufacturing team and help build custom-built environmental monitoring systems for large-scale projects. These are not off-the-shelf products. Each system is unique, engineered to meet complex monitoring requirements, multiple sensors, varied intervals, and demanding site conditions.
If you enjoy hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and building something meaningful from the ground up, this role is for you.
What you will be doing
You will work alongside engineers and field technicians to build, integrate, test, and refine bespoke monitoring systems, including:
* Assembling and integrating multi-component monitoring systems
* Testing, troubleshooting, and validating systems to meet engineering specs
* Supporting design improvements and problem-solving with engineers
* Completing functional testing, FAT, ITP, and quality documentation
* Investigating and trialling new equipment and technologies
* Ensuring high-quality, zero-defect builds before delivery
* Improving workshop processes, quality controls, and 5S standards
* Marking up as-built changes and contributing to continuous improvement
Every build is different, every project brings a new challenge, and your work will directly support major environmental and infrastructure outcomes.
About you
You are practical, curious, and take pride in doing things properly. You likely bring:
* A relevant TAFE qualification
* Around 5+ years in a technical, manufacturing, or systems role
* Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
* Confidence working from drawings, SOPs, and technical specs
* A detail-focused mindset and pride in high-quality work
* Experience with instrumentation, electronics, soldering, or similar (advantageous, not essential)
* The ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines
Most importantly, you enjoy learning, improving, and being part of a supportive technical team.
Why join Acoem?
* Work on industry-leading environmental technology
* Build custom systems, not repetitive production lines
* Join a supportive, inclusive team that works hard and enjoys a laugh
* Training, development, and long-term growth opportunities
* Bonus scheme and competitive salary
* Great Eastern Suburbs location, close to Eastlink, with free parking
* A business that genuinely invests in its people and culture
We are proud of our team, our culture, and the impact we make, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us long-term.
