About the Role
As Head of Department, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the direction and success of your team. You will lead curriculum development aligned with school and departmental priorities, support the delivery of the Early Childhood and State Schools Division's vision, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning quality. In this role, you will also foster strong, positive relationships among students, staff, and the wider school community. Reporting directly to the Principal or delegate, you will be instrumental in creating a collaborative, high-performing environment that supports every learner's success.
The appointment is set for 24th November 2025; however, the start date is negotiable depending on the successful applicant's current employment circumstances. This position also offers access to subsidised housing and locality allowances for eligible employees.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department - Curriculum/ Senior Schooling, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Providing comprehensive leadership and oversight of curriculum development and delivery across Maths, Science, and Technologies, ensuring alignment with school and departmental priorities.
* Driving excellence in teaching and learning by supporting faculty teams, promoting best practices, and focusing on continuous improvement to enhance student outcomes.
* Monitoring student behaviour patterns and wellbeing, offering targeted support for case-managed students, and cultivating a positive and inclusive school culture.
* Tracking and analysing senior student data to identify those at risk, designing and implementing targeted interventions to ensure students remain on track to achieve their Queensland Certificate of Education.
* Leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs with a deep understanding of the Australian Curriculum (including Version 9), Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA), Senior Education and Training (SET) planning, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and student transition pathways.
* Strengthen partnerships with industry to ensure every learner is equipped and encouraged to succeed.
* Line manage VET delivery, overseeing engagement in vocational pathways.
* Teaching experience in the following areas would be considered advantageous: Mathematical Methods, Physics, and/or Chemistry.
