About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.
What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.
We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
The work area
This role sits within the Communications Directorate which is part of the Office of the Under Treasurer business unit. As strategic advisors, the Communications team ensures staff and stakeholders are informed and engaged with DTF which is at the centre of government decision-making. They ensure clear and consistent branding; develop and implement strategic communications plans and advice; produce publication-ready versions of key reports and coordinate DTF’s internal and external communications channels.

6-Month Opportunity: Help us revitalise our digital front door!
We’re seeking a talented and motivated Senior Communications Officer to help elevate our established Intranet, the central internal digital space for our department. As the first page our employees land on, the DTF Hub plays a critical role in shaping their digital experience. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact project focused on making the DTF Hub more helpful, intuitive, and engaging for all staff.
In this role you’ll bring strong project management skills, develop a detailed project plan and have a solid understanding of digital systems related to online communications (e.g. SharePoint) to drive improvements that align with departmental goals and enhance internal communications.
You will manage content reviews, migration, and testing, while building and nurturing cross-team collaboration for content production and establishing procedures for ongoing maintenance.
This is a 6-month opportunity with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
