Description Create your best future and join Westpac as a Market Data Systems Senior Engineer What’s the role? As a Senior Market Data Systems Engineer, you’ll join the Market Data Services team, responsible for delivering and maintaining market data infrastructure, including distribution platforms, enterprise feeds, trading venues, FIX post-trade feeds, and desktop products. This role supports and maintains market data infrastructure, resolves escalated desktop issues, and delivers upgrades and new deployments in line with business and vendor needs. It involves regular troubleshooting, weekend change activities, and ensuring systems remain secure and reliable. You’ll also manage monitoring, capacity planning, and API-based integration using LSEG (Refinitiv) and Bloomberg tools. The position includes after-hours support and collaboration with inclusive, global teams across regions like London, Singapore, New York, and New Zealand. What do I need? Success in this role requires experience in market data technology support within banking or finance, or a development background with an interest in financial markets and a willingness to learn. Extensive experience as a senior engineer in a similar banking or financial services environment. Experience supporting applications on Red Hat Linux and Bash scripting in collaborative environments. Skilled in supporting market data tools like Refinitiv Eikon, Bloomberg, and IRESS with a user-centred focus. Versatile in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, C#, and Visual Basic for varied project needs. Proficient in designing integration solutions with LSEG (Refinitiv) and Bloomberg APIs (e.g., RFA, SDKs, B-Pipe, BLPAPI). Experienced with Microsoft 365, especially Excel macros and add-ins, to boost productivity. Strong technical knowledge of TCP/IP and DNS. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in high-pressure environments, with a solid understanding of ITIL service management, including incident, change, and problem management. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse stakeholders, vendors, and tech teams. Why join us?
