Key Responsibilities:
Machining involves operating a range of tools including CNC machinery, mills, lathes, grinders and lasers to produce precision components within tight tolerances. This requires the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, determine machining requirements and set up equipment accordingly.
To achieve these goals, you will perform routine maintenance, lubrication and cleaning tasks on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance and compliance with quality and safety standards. You will also be responsible for recommending improvements to production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and productivity.
Assisting engineers in design modifications of mechanical components such as hydraulic systems and drive mechanisms is an additional key aspect of this role. This may involve collaborating with colleagues and other departments to maintain efficient workflow and mentor apprentices to foster skill development. Finally, maintaining a clean, safe and organized work environment is crucial to success in this position.
Requirements:
We are looking for individuals with relevant trade qualifications and at least three years experience in a similar role. Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances and precision measurement instruments is essential. Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings and specifications is also required. Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement is vital.
