Overview

An exciting executive leadership opportunity exists at a leading commercial furniture manufacturing and supply company for an Operations Director.

Zenith is seeking an experienced, commercially minded operations leader to oversee end-to-end operational performance across our manufacturing network. This is a pivotal, hands-on leadership role that blends strategic direction with practical execution in a complex, design-led, mass customised environment.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a critical role in enabling the business to win and deliver work successfully. You will work closely with Sales, Design, Project Delivery and Supply Chain teams to ensure operational capability, confidence and excellence across all stages of the customer journey.

This full-time position is based at Zenith’s Sandringham manufacturing facility and offers the opportunity to influence strategy, drive continuous improvement, and lead high-performing teams across multiple sites. The remuneration package includes a competitive executive salary commensurate with experience.

Key Accountabilities / Duties

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Director will lead operational strategy and execution across Zenith’s manufacturing facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and Shanghai. You will be responsible for building capability, improving systems and processes, and ensuring consistent delivery of service, quality, cost and safety outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

* Lead a mass customised and custom manufacturing operation delivering complex, designer-specified commercial projects.
* Oversee production engineering for new and existing product programs, ensuring design intent is maintained while improving manufacturability, quality and scalability.
* Provide leadership, development and direction to the Technical Support and Internal Estimating teams.
* Partner closely with Sales teams to support the winning of work, providing operational input that strengthens solution confidence, lead times, risk assessment, costing and delivery planning.
* Drive best practice systems, standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives across all manufacturing sites.
* Champion workplace health & safety, environmental responsibility, quality assurance and risk management across the business.
* Lead the effective management of product issues, including investigation, resolution and any required product modifications or withdrawals.
* Oversee operational performance across service, delivery, cost and quality metrics.
* Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, high standards and continuous improvement across all operational teams.
* Manage global, local and just-in-time supply chains to support project delivery and manufacturing efficiency.


Skills & Experience Required

* Senior leadership experience in manufacturing operations within custom or mass customised, project-based environments.
* Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience supporting sales teams to win work through practical, solution-focused operational input.
* Proven people leadership capability, with a track record of building high-performing teams and developing future leaders.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work confidently across technical and non-technical teams.
* Experience leading operations across multiple facilities and geographies.
* A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to embed systems, standards and best practice.
* Experience managing complex supply chains, including global and just-in-time models.
* Strong understanding of quality, environmental, health & safety and risk management frameworks.
