About the role
The successful candidate will be based in Doomadgee - a remote community of approximately 2,000 people located around 500 km from Mount Isa - either permanently or on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) arrangement. EMG Pty Ltd has been contracted to deliver the Remote Area Essential Services (RAES) program from 1 November 2025 to 30 June 2028. The Remote Programs Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the delivery of RAES in Doomadgee, along with any small complementary programs that may be introduced. Key responsibilities include governance, financial management and budgeting, community engagement, contract administration, staff coaching and development, human resource management, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).
What you’ll possess
- Strong knowledge and experience in engaging with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with respect for cultural protocols and community ways of doing things
- Proven success in leading and coaching teams, managing operations, and maintaining performance within contractual guidelines
- Experience working autonomously, using initiative and problem-solving skills to respond quickly to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Well-developed skills in report writing, consultation, negotiation and leadership to achieve shared outcomes with communities and organisations
- Proven ability to think creatively and use technology effectively across operational tools, record-keeping and communication
- Experience developing positive, respectful relationships with First Nations communities and local organisations
- Current manual driver’s licence and relevant Blue Card Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one
Highly Desirable
- Experience working in Australian Government Employment Programs in First Nations communities
- Significant understanding of the complexity and nuances of working with government departments
- Skills and/or qualifications in Business, Management, Community Development or Project Management
