Job Description:
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior OpenShift Administrator to implement, manage, and retire infrastructure that supports digital services. The ideal candidate will provide technical support, troubleshoot problems, and automate solutions to ensure stable and efficient operation of OpenShift environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.
- Assist developers in automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerised applications using OpenShift, utilising our GitOps platform and CI/CD pipelines for efficient service delivery.
- Oversee cluster management (inc. in-place cluster upgrades), resource allocation, configuration management, and capacity planning within Red Hat OpenShift environments, ensuring optimal performance and responsible resource utilisation.
- Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Helm to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure the security of OpenShift environments by implementing best practices, including vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and role-based access control.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field highly desirable, or demonstrated continuous professional experience of at least 5+ years in a large scale ICT environment, and additionally 3+ years in a large scale kubernetes environment suitable alternative.
- At least 5+ years of experience in system administering - Including experience in OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster administration. Extensive experience in Kubernetes administration - Including networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting within containerised environments. Experience in a government or highly regulated environment, with demonstrated compliance to standards such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential 8.
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or equivalent certification, or a willingness to obtain these certifications within the first 3-6 months of employment.
