Workshop supervisor – ti

We manage and maintain road networks across Australia and New Zealand and manufacture and supply products and services to create safe, efficient and reliable journeys. We offer one of the largest non‐government owned road services businesses.

Reporting to the Victorian Fleet Maintenance Manager, this position leads a skilled and dedicated workshop team while overseeing workshop safety and compliance. The key focus is to work closely with the Victorian operational teams and provide safe and reliable plant and equipment, maximising uptime and minimising business interruption.

• Promote and enforce a strong, proactive safety culture aligned with Downers Zero Harm policies.
• Oversee all daily maintenance activities, upholding workshop efficiency with focus on asset availability.
• Manage equipment defects and compliance, responding to unplanned field repairs using internal and external resources.
• Engage with the external supplier network to develop consistent and accountable outcomes.
• Ensure accurate job documentation and service records.
• Provide hands‐on workshop leadership, supporting technicians with complex diagnostics, fault finding and repair execution.

• Mechanical Trade qualifications with at least 3 years experience across construction, road transport, mining or similar.
• Successful track record of workshop supervision with proven leadership and coaching skills.
• Demonstrated ability of building relationships with key stakeholders.
• Exposure to scheduling maintenance over large geographically disperse areas in a highly dynamic environment while maintaining customer service.
• Timely and quality decision making, working effectively under tight deadlines.
• Computer literacy, with strong practical knowledge of Excel and the MS Office suite.
