We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance All-Rounder to join our team at a busy, 34 room boutique hotel in Port Douglas. This is a casual weekday position, ideal for someone hands-on who takes pride and initiative in keeping rooms, facilities and grounds in top condition.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the property, ensuring our guest rooms, public areas, gardens, and pool facilities are well maintained, and presented to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* General maintenance and repairs across guest rooms and common areas
* Attending to urgent room issues identified by the reception and housekeeping teams
* Attending to ad-hoc public areas maintenance as required by restaurant and management teams
* Daily general pool maintenance and upkeep of pool area (clearing leaves, netting, pool furniture maintenance, setting machines in between professional services)
* Daily garden and grounds maintenance (weeding, mowing, raking, leaf blowing, pruning, watering pot plants)
* Basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks
* Scheduled bins and waste management
* Monthly public area glass door cleaning and gurneying
* Carrying out basic troubleshooting and minor repairs on air conditioning units, televisions, and appliances, with the ability to identify issues and escalate when required
* Liaise with specialist trade contractors where required
* Identifying and reporting maintenance issues proactively
* Problem-solving and fault-finding when issues occur
* Source and monitor maintenance stock/tool supplies as required
* Keeping a daily log of tasks and meeting maintenance schedules
* Taking initiative and viewing the property from a guest's perspective to ensure presentation and functionality are always at their best
* Ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently
* Communicating effectively with management regarding identified maintenance issues, including sourcing required materials, obtaining purchase approvals, and providing updates on works and priorities
About You
* Proven experience in general maintenance or a similar role in a hotel environment
* Strong all-round handyman skills
* Knowledge of pool and garden maintenance highly regarded
* Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively
* Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented
* Positive attitude, energetic and well-presented
* Friendly and approachable team player
