So, what's the role?
The Domain Architect leads Bank First's AI and data architecture, setting direction, standards and target designs while staying hands‐on with delivery. The role ensures alignment with data governance (including quality, lineage, classification and responsible AI) and translates business needs into secure, practical architectures for engineering and delivery teams.
In a Typical Day You Will Get Involved In
* Own and evolve AI & data architecture (principles, standards, controls) aligned to strategy and risk
* Define target‐state architecture and roadmap to modern data/AI capability
* Develop reusable reference architectures and patterns
* Design secure, scalable AI solutions (including GenAI and Agentic AI where appropriate)
* Evaluate AI features in core and SaaS platforms (integration, data, security, governance)
* Translate business problems into clear architectural requirements and options
* Lead solution architecture for key initiatives from design through delivery
* Communicate with stakeholders and align governance standards into practical guardrails
About You
You balance big‐picture thinking with a practical approach to delivery and you're comfortable working in a small‐team environment. You're curious and evidence‐led, testing assumptions and using data to guide decisions and iteration. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, setting direction and making decisions with imperfect information.
Ideally, You'll Have
* Proven experience in data and AI/ML architecture within complex (ideally regulated) environments
* Strong expertise in modern data platforms (modelling, integration, lineage, quality, semantic layers)
* Solid knowledge and experience of Azure data and AI services and fit‐for‐purpose architecture patterns
* Hands‐on experience with Generative and Agentic AI solutions (e.g., RAG, prompt design, orchestrations, safe deployments, etc)
* Ability to produce high‐quality architecture artefacts and transition plans
* Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
* 10+ years' architecture experience with TOGAF (or similar) principles and hands‐on delivery collaboration
