Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan, founded in the 1980s by Rose Richards ('Aunty Rosie'), is a leading health service provider dedicated to improving the health and well‑being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from Cape York, NPA and Torres Strait Islander communities while in Cairns. Our unique Mookai Family Health (primary care services clinic) offers a range of services, including primary care services, midwifery‑led antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, sexual health, chronic disease management, social and emotional wellbeing support, vaccinations, and health promotion. About the Role
As Practice Team Leader at Mookai Family Health, you will manage administrative activities for the Mookai Rosie Bi‑Bayan (MRBB) Medical Program and support the multidisciplinary clinic team (GP, nurses, midwife, and Health Workers). Core responsibilities include:
* Processing Medicare claims and maintaining data integrity in Best Practice software
* Coordinating clinic appointments and ensuring smooth clinic operations in line with the Clinical Governance Framework and organisational policies
* Supporting the delivery of follow‑up care services for clients and families at risk or with chronic conditions
* Working as a member of a multidisciplinary team and contributing to operational success
Qualifications & Experience
* Diploma in Practice Management, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice, or Leadership and Management (preferred)
* Minimum 3‑4 years' experience in primary health care, preferably in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comprehensive primary health care
* Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in rural and remote areas
* Exceptional organisational and communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong leadership skills, ability to meet deadlines, manage team performance under pressure, and contribute to operational success
* Proficiency with computer‑based programs such as Microsoft Office, Best Practice and MIMASO, or the ability to acquire these skills quickly
* Valid Positive Notice Blue Card (or willingness to obtain one – employment is contingent on obtaining a Blue Card)
* Current Queensland Driver's Licence
* Current First Aid and CPR certification
Employment & Compensation
* Contract Type – Full time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2026 (likely extension)
* Work hours – Monday to Friday from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm
* Rewarding salary range – $75,400.00 – $85,000.00 per annum
* Salary sacrifice of up to $15,900
* 11.5% superannuation contributions
* 4 weeks annual leave and 17.5% leave loading
