About the role:
The Regional Managing Director – Asia is responsible for all locomotive sales and services operations in the region. The primary purpose for this role is to satisfy customer requirements by growing revenue and margin for Progress Rail through increased sales of end products, parts and services. This includes annual sales revenue, booking targets and profit margin, cash collection, key account plan development and customer scorecard/satisfaction. The role also includes management and expansion of our service capabilities and our operational staff.
Responsibilities of the position:
Sales and operations management with responsibility to win and grow Progress Rail’s locomotive sales, aftermarket sales and services business in Asian countries including Indonesia, China, India, New Zealand, South Korea and Bangladesh.
Lead and execute business strategy for Progress Rail by providing hands-on aggressive leadership, and n line with business strategy, manage a team of people as required.
Coordinate and develop capabilities (direct and through partnerships) to offer expanded services in-country, for-country to maximize Progress Rail’s regional Operating Profit after Capital Charge (OPACC).
Create and maintain high level and professional relationships with end customers.
Settle technical details and negotiate commercial contracts with customers as needed.
Proficient in achieving sales and profit targets set in agreement with Progress Rail leadership.
Develop and maintain a network of high caliber agents and partners to support Progress Rail’s regional goals.
Execute strategy and lead regional teams of sales and services leaders.
Ability to build and position the overall corporate image, branding and market awareness of the company in the region.
Competent in promoting sales of service parts and rebuild components.
Works together with relevant senior industry and government contacts to influence sales, long-term business opportunities, and open doors for new business development.
Stays up-to-date on the latest technologies, competitive activities and industry developments in the region.
Significant international travel to perform duties may be required.
Skills and Experience:
Australian or Indonesian work-authorised candidate with a minimum of bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred.
Track record in general management roles with a focus on sales and marketing activities in a capital-intensive sector and winning contracts.
Previous track record of building a start-up operation is highly desired.
High energy level with business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit; possesses a continuous improvement mentality.
Proven experience and credibility of guiding and coaching a team (both locally and at Progress Rail) and operating at a senior level.
Ability to use appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive and successful team and motivate and lead by example to facilitate team goals.
Must be able to travel effectively across all countries in the region.
