Primary objective
Provide comprehensive, confidential, administrative support to the Principal of the Alice Springs comprehensive high school,
including administrative coordination and executive support.
Context statement
In response into secondary education in the Northern Territory, in Alice Springs there will be one comprehensive high
school (years 7 to 12) on the current Centralian Middle School site with a connected regional industry, trade and flexible
education college (years 10 to 12) to be established on the current Centralian Senior College site over the next four years.
The Executive Assistant will provide executive support to the transitional principal who is responsible for bringing Centralian
Senior College and Centralian Middle School together to form Alice Springs' largest public school.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide comprehensive administrative support to an executive which may include:
* Monitoring all communication channels in and out of the principal's office, including email and diary management,
scheduling meetings and travel arrangements.
* Providing high level secretarial support including minute taking and logistical support to working groups, committees
and events/functions.
* Maintaining appropriate administrative systems, registers, processes, databases and record management ensuring
effective and efficient workflows.
* Managing a range of procurement functions including travel arrangements, purchasing and processing credit card
transactions.
* Supporting working groups, committees and for events/functions the executive/work unit are involved with.
* Liaise in a discreet and confidential manner with a wide range of people including but not limited to all levels of staff
within the agency, external stakeholders and the general public.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience providing administrative support to a senior leader or executive, including managing calendars,
scheduling meetings, handling correspondence and maintaining confidential files and records.
1. Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint) and record management systems with
a willingness to adopt new technology.
1. Well-developed professional, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to communicate (both written and
verbally) with a diverse group of stakeholders and build positive working relationships with other executives and staff.
1. Prior experience operating in a fast-paced environment with strong organisational and time management skills with the
flexibility to handle changing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
1. Attention to detail with ability to delegate and escalate issues, develop creative solutions and seek out positive
improvements.
