Role
The University of Newcastle College of International Education (CIE) is seeking a teacher for our 2025 Foundation Studies Program to teach Australian Studies. The Foundation Studies Program articulates into the first year of undergraduate study at the University of Newcastle.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently planning and delivering high-quality face-to-face lessons in accordance with the Australian Studies curriculum and class schedules
- Conducting courses and marking assessments for international students who will proceed to the first year of a higher education degree program
- Carrying out administrative functions and operating with an LMS and Microsoft applications
- Addressing individual student needs and concerns both inside and outside the classroom as appropriate to educational and institutional guidelines
- Participating in a team environment and contributing to the effective delivery of quality pathways courses offered to international students
Requirements
- Experience in teaching international students
- A recognised postgraduate degree in a field relevant to Australian Studies
- 2+ years experience in tertiary and/or secondary education OR a formal qualification in the delivery of education
- Energy, enthusiasm, and a dynamic approach to classroom performance
- A commitment to student learning
- Effective communication skills and ability to communicate tactfully
- Confidence using educational programs and LMS (Canvas)
