About the Role
As our Senior Accountant, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of one of Australia's premier basketball organizations. This position offers the perfect blend of traditional accounting excellence with the unique challenges and rewards of working in professional sports.
What You'll Be Doing
Financial Management & Reporting
* Prepare detailed cash flow statements and control expenditure
* Manage year-end accounts, statutory accounts, and compliance responsibilities (BAS Statements, Tax Returns, FBT submissions)
* Conduct multi-year forecasting to support business strategy
* Analyze financial data to assess the Club's financial health and identify revenue optimization opportunities
Revenue & Expense Management
* Reconcile income reports and manage accounts receivable processes
* Oversee accounts payable and supplier payment systems
* Manage employee payment processes, reimbursements, and deductions
* Prepare monthly and annual P&L and balance sheet reports
Strategic Support
* Provide financial insights and advice to the Senior Leadership Team
* Support board reporting and other company financial communications
* Identify areas for financial process improvement and efficiency gains
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CPA or CA qualification
* Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting roles
* Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance
Key Skills:
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel
* Strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
