With more than 20 years' experience supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF), we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safety, Compliance & Quality Manager to join our team to be located at Fleet Base West, WA.
About The Role
The Safety, Compliance & Quality Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across Safety, Compliance, and Quality disciplines for designated Defence projects and regions. This role ensures strong governance, meets regulatory and contractual compliance, and drives continuous improvement across operations — including maritime, submarine rescue, and firefighting environments. You will strengthen organisational capability through effective systems, assurance activities, coaching, risk management, and engagement with technical and client stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
* Oversee safety programs, risk management, incident readiness, and environmental controls.
* Manage regulatory, contractual, and organisational compliance requirements.
* Develop and maintain the Quality Management System (ISO-aligned) and ensure strong document control.
* Conduct internal audits, inspections, and readiness activities for external assessments.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
* Support teams with SHEQ guidance, training, coaching, and capability uplift.
* Analyse safety and quality data to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
* Maintain strong client relationships and deliver clear reporting to stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
* 7+ years' experience in quality or SHEQ leadership roles within large‐scale operations.
* Bachelor degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field (desirable).
* Professional certifications in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
* Certified Lead Auditor and Integrated SHEQ Internal Auditor.
* Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance frameworks, and industry best practice.
* Extensive experience in analysing complex safety issues and presenting data‐driven recommendations.
* Deep familiarity with integrated management systems and SHEQ frameworks.
* Proficiency with systems such as Solv, SharePoint, QMS platforms, audit tools, and data analytics software.
* Ability to interpret complex data sets and contribute to strategic planning and assurance initiatives.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills, including experience working with WHS subject matter experts.
