Assistant Accountant
Your new company
Are you a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant? Based in a modern office in Altona and on the back of a successful few years, this company is growing fast and looking to expand their accounting function This role will start on a 2 month temporary contract, with a strong view to go permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconciliation on the Accounts Receivable (AR) side:
1. Verify and reconcile customer payments against invoices.
2. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts.
3. Maintain accurate records of all AR transactions.
4. Prepare and distribute AR ageing reports.
Accounts Payable assistance:
1. Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
2. Handle vendor enquiries and resolve payment issues.
3. Maintain AP ledger and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Month-end closing activities:
1. Prepare and post journal entries.
2. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
3. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
4. Assist in the preparation of month-end financial statements.
Preparation of financial reports:
1. Compile and analyse financial data for reporting purposes.
2. Assist with balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
3. Assist in the preparation of budget and forecast reports.
4. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Skills required:
1. CPA or CA studies (desired).
2. Strong understanding of the above accounting principles and practices.
3. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
