The CSA Mine is located in Cobar NSW and is Australia's highest-grade copper mine.
We are located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia's deepest underground mines.
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs over 500 people including contractors.
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to support the site's commitment to sustainable mining practices and environmental compliance.
About the Role:
As the Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the mine meets all regulatory and internal environmental requirements. Working closely with operations and technical teams, you'll lead environmental monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain and implement site Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
* Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and approvals
* Conduct inspections, audits, and investigations, and provide actionable insights
* Manage environmental reporting, including air, water, waste, and land monitoring
* Build strong working relationships with regulatory bodies, traditional owners, and internal stakeholders
* Provide guidance and training to site personnel on environmental responsibilities
* Support rehabilitation, biodiversity, and closure planning projects
You will have:
* A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
* Previous experience in the mining or heavy industry sectors
* Strong understanding of NSW environmental legislation and approvals (e.g. EPL, EPBC, POEO)
* Excellent report writing and communication skills
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
Conditions:
Roster options for this position are either 8/6 or 5/2, 4/3.
Commute options include residential, DIDO or FIFO (FIFO locations are from Brisbane or Sydney only).
Candidates interested in DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.
Candidates interested in relocating to Cobar will be provided relocation assistance.
