As Director of Paediatrics, you'll lead a dedicated team delivering high‑quality inpatient, outpatient, neonatal, and community services in a region rich in clinical variety and cultural significance. Based in Mount Isa, you'll influence service development, support teaching and research, and make a meaningful impact in remote Indigenous communities. About the role
As the Director of Paediatrics you will lead a committed team delivering high‑quality care across Mount Isa and remote North Western Queensland. The role offers exceptional clinical variety, strong community connection and the chance to shape paediatric services while supporting teaching, training and outreach to Indigenous communities.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership to the paediatric department, ensuring clinical excellence and quality improvement.
* Develop and oversee service delivery plans, including inpatient, outpatient, neonatal and community services.
* Collaborate with clinical and non‑clinical staff to drive a culture of safety and patient‑centred care.
* Support teaching activities, research projects and continuous professional development.
* Represent the department in hospital governance, committees and external agencies.
Qualifications
* Registration as a Specialist Paediatrician or a relevant medical specialty with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
* Valid Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
* Strong evidence of leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Commitment to community engagement and cultural safety in Indigenous settings.
Benefits and Remuneration
* Competitive pro‑rate remuneration package up to $663,108 p.a., based on full‑time equivalent value.
* Base salary ranges between $216,643 and $274,678 p.a.
* Annual recreational leave of 5 weeks and additional paid leave policy.
* Attraction and retention incentives including a regional and rural allowance of 15% of base annual salary.
* Motor vehicle allowance.
* Professional development allowance and 3.6 weeks paid leave.
* Accommodation provided as per NWHHS Procedure.
* Transfer and appointment expenses (subject to conditions).
