Suburban Connect Tunnelling Wages Pty Ltd has been engaged by Suburban Connect to provide tunnelling workforce to support the delivery of the Suburban Rail Loop East Tunnels South project.

Purpose of the Role
This role supports fabrication, welding, and maintenance activities across one of Melbourne's largest infrastructure projects. The Engineering Fabrication Apprentice will work closely with experienced tradespeople to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of fabrication works across the project.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform welding, fabrication, and repair work on plant, equipment, and structural components
* Interpret technical drawings and specifications to complete tasks accurately
* Assist with maintenance and modifications of mechanical plant and infrastructure
* Operate fabrication tools and machinery safely and effectively
* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety standards and project requirements
* Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment
* Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting efficient and safe work practices
About You
* Currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th Year Engineering Fabrication Apprenticeship
* Relevant trade experience within construction, maintenance, or heavy industry (desirable)
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
* Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
* Well-developed problem‐solving skills and strong attention to detail
* Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team
* Welding tickets or additional certifications (preferred but not essential)
