About the Role
At Proofpoint, the members of our Sales Engineering team are highly valued business partners that play a critical role in our sales process every single day. As a Sales Engineer you will be one of the most important members of the Proofpoint sales team. You will become a trusted advisor to both the Account Managers you are paired with, as well as our current and future customers. As a technical liaison and subject matter expert on all things Proofpoint, you will help to deliver People-Centric solutions that protect against today's cyber threats.
You will get to develop and tell a compelling story that will excite your customers and have them eager to hear more. Your story may include product demonstrations, white‐boarding sessions, mini‐trainings, lunch‐and‐learns, Proof‐of‐Concepts, and production evaluations – all in pursuit of providing a solution to your customer that you will take pride in being a part of.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the sales team to deliver the most successful security platform available.
* Act as the technical point of contact for customers throughout the entire sales cycle.
* Design complex email and data security solutions.
* Develop compelling stories including product demonstrations, proof‐of‐concepts, and sales presentations.
* Assist in professional services deployments, technical training, industry seminars, and trade shows as needed.
* Provide valuable customer insight and real‐world experiences to Product Management, Marketing, and Product Development teams.
* Maintain deep expertise in Email Security Gateways, Advanced Persistent Threats, Cyber Kill Chain, Threat Response, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and emerging threat vectors.
* Help solve one of the biggest issues facing IT in the last 20 years.
Qualifications
* Impressive experience in secure messaging, data security, or another cyber‐security related field.
* Well versed in enterprise email solutions such as O365, Gmail, and Exchange, with solid knowledge of SMTP. Knowledge and experience with security awareness education solutions or programs is a bonus.
* Experience with or understanding of Directory Services.
* Understanding of networking and common protocols: SMTP, LDAP, HTTP, etc.
* Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; a generally likeable person.
* Enjoy working with people and helping them solve their problems.
* Highly enthusiastic and passionate individual with a strong drive.
* Preferred but not mandatory: education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.
