The Acute Care Team at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Consultant to join their team on a permanent basis.
Identified role: Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Your opportunity
Improve health outcomes by ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are engaged and consulted in the development and delivery of person centred culturally safe MHAOD services.
Services and activities include prevention, education, intervention and promotion to people, families and community groups, in keeping with mental health service standards. This role also contributes to the broader Mackay hospital Health Service initiatives to Closing the Gap.
About The Team
The Mental Health and AOD Service is comprised of eight clinical teams across the MHHS. The Mental Health Service is responsible for the provision of comprehensive, specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age‐spectrum for people with severe and complex mental health problems. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented and are provided in a variety of settings including community, an acute inpatient unit, hospitals and emergency departments.
Acute Care Team
The Acute Care Team is the first point of contact to public mental health services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The team will undertake triage and may facilitate the referral of the consumer to a more appropriate internal and/or external service such as a community mental health team, an alcohol and drug service or primary health care.
