Summary

VitalTrace is looking for a high-impact Talent Acquisition & HR Manager to help scale a fast-growing MedTech startup by hiring exceptional engineering and technical talent. This role is 80% recruitment-focused and 20% HR operations, designed for someone who thrives in a high-growth startup environment and understands how to recruit niche technical talent in competitive markets. You will work closely with the CEO, CTO, and engineering leaders to design hiring strategies, build strong pipelines for specialized engineering roles, and ensure the company attracts mission-driven talent passionate about healthcare innovation and also lead the employee lifecycle for these hires.

Responsibilities

* Strategic Talent Acquisition (Primary Focus – 80%)
* Engineering & Technical Hiring
o Lead end-to-end recruitment for niche technical roles including
+ Embedded systems engineers
+ Firmware engineers
+ Biomedical engineers
+ Hardware engineers
+ Software engineers (backend, data, AI/ML)
+ Product engineers in medical device development
o Develop targeted sourcing strategies for hard-to-fill engineering roles in MedTech and deep-tech sectors.
* Talent Pipeline Development
o Build Strong Candidate Pipelines Through passive sourcing on LinkedIn, GitHub, StackOverflow, and engineering communities.
o University and research partnerships.
o Industry networks within MedTech, biomedical engineering, and IoT ecosystems.
o Maintain a proactive talent pipeline for future technical hiring needs.
* Startup Hiring Strategy
o Partner with leadership to create scalable hiring plans aligned with product roadmap and growth milestones.
o Implement high-bar hiring processes suitable for early-stage startups where every hire has outsized impact.
* Candidate Experience & Employer Brand
o Design a strong candidate experience that reflects the company's mission in healthcare innovation.
o Position the company as a mission-driven MedTech employer through targeted outreach and storytelling.
* Interview & Assessment Frameworks
o Develop structured technical interview processes with engineering leaders.
o Implement skills-based assessments for hardware, firmware, and software roles.
* Recruitment Analytics
o Track and report hiring metrics such as Time to hire, Offer acceptance rate, Source effectiveness, Engineering hiring pipeline health.

HR Responsibilities (20%)

* Onboarding & Integration
o Design structured technical onboarding programs to accelerate new hires' integration into engineering teams.
* People Operations
o Manage key HR processes including employee lifecycle management, performance review coordination, basic HR compliance and documentation.
* Employee Engagement
o Partner with leadership to create a high-performance startup culture where engineers feel empowered, supported, and mission-aligned.
* Policy & Process Development
o Help establish lightweight, scalable HR processes appropriate for a growing startup.

Qualifications

* Masters Degree in Human Resources, Psychology or a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources/Psychology or MBA. CPHR(AHRI) credential good to have.

Mandatory Requirements

* Minimum 5+ years total experience in Talent Acquisition / HR
* Minimum 3 years working in a startup or high-growth company
* Demonstrated experience hiring engineering or deep technical roles
* Strong sourcing capability for passive technical candidates
* Experience working directly with engineering leadership teams

Additional Preferred Experience (Good To Have)

* Experience recruiting for at least two or more of the following domains:
o Embedded systems
o Hardware engineering
o Biomedical engineering
o Software engineering
o AI/ML engineering
o Medical device product teams

Skills

* Advanced sourcing (LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub sourcing, talent mapping)
* Technical interview process design
* Stakeholder management with engineering leaders
* Data-driven recruitment strategy
* Strong candidate assessment and closing skills

Ideal candidate would have

* Experience hiring in MedTech, HealthTech or other tech-related startup hiring experience.
* Exposure to engineering teams working on hardware-software integrated products
* Experience scaling teams in early-stage startups (Series A–C)

Pay rate – AUD 100000–120000 per annum
