Title:
Principal Mechanical Engineer, Water
We support water customers across Australia to provide our communities with the best drinking water and wastewater treatment services, whilst innovating ways to safeguard and secure our country’s water supplies, elevating public spaces and enhancing livability.
The Opportunity
You’ll be a key member of our Water team, which has secured projects that will transform how QLD operates. We are delivering a more efficient and integrated water system to support QLD’s growth and to maintain and improve environmental outcomes. Our Water team provides services across the entire water cycle, including major pipelines, large pumping stations, and advanced water, wastewater, and recycling treatment facilities.
We address critical water cycle challenges and offer solutions through flexible program delivery models and ongoing asset management. KBR has significant ongoing work supporting utilities such as Urban Utilities, SEQ Water, Sydney Water, Water NSW, SA Water, South East Water, and Melbourne Water to achieve phased savings in capital expenditure while delivering excellent environmental and community outcomes.
You will play a vital role in the water team, contributing to projects, providing people leadership, setting technical direction, managing client relationships, and overseeing commercial aspects. Our team is also exploring innovative technologies like virtual reality and artificial intelligence, offering you opportunities to develop skills in the digital realm.
Who are you?
You are a design-focused Principal Mechanical Engineer motivated by achievement and commercial success. Your experience with design practices for water & wastewater infrastructure across major utility assets will be highly valued. You have a pragmatic approach to developing constructable design solutions and possess proven commercial acumen in delivering water infrastructure projects.
Your work involves conventional engineering practices, potentially including complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unconventional materials, and challenging coordination tasks.
You will provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to designers and less experienced engineers.
