Offer description

Senior finance role at ASX-listed EOS, shaping global strategy and growth in defence and space alongside world-class engineers and scientists.

About Electro Optic Systems

Electro Optic Systems (EOS) is an ASX-listed world leader in defence and space technology, headquartered in Canberra with offices in Melbourne and a growing international footprint.

The company designs, develops, and builds advanced systems that detect, identify, stabilise, control, and communicate to inform strategic decision-making.

EOS is a well-established member of the international defence and space communities and is currently in an exciting growth phase. With major contracts secured, a significant sales pipeline, and expansion into Europe underway, the business is creating new teams and delivering multiple high-value projects.

The Opportunity

As EOS scales globally, it is embedding stronger systems, processes, and governance to support sustainable growth across its sections, including space systems, high energy laser technology, and defence contracts.

This newly created position is a key finance leadership role supporting the Space and High Energy Laser businesses in Canberra.

As Senior Finance Business Partner, you’ll advise divisional leaders with financial insights, commercial analysis, and strategic guidance, particularly on a $120 million, three-year high-energy laser development program.

You’ll play a central role in managing complex project and contract accounting, shaping financial strategy, and guiding decision-making on large-scale, high-value international projects.

The role requires a balance of strategic oversight with hands-on financial control, and the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly across both technical and executive audiences.

This chance is available exclusively through HorizonOne.

The Role

Key areas of responsibility include:

- Partnering with divisional executives to shape financial strategy, long-term business plans, and capital allocation decisions
- Overseeing budgets, forecasts, cash flow models, and purchase approvals for major projects and contracts
- Driving robust project accounting, long-term contract management, and revenue recognition practices
- Translating complex technical and scientific information into clear financial insights and commentary for executive decision-making
- Preparing accurate financial reports, board papers, and variance analysis with transparent recommendations
- Supporting a multinational, three-year, $120m defence project while contributing to the division’s broader growth agenda
- Embedding stronger systems, processes, and governance as the division scales internationally

The Ideal Person

You are a strategic yet hands-on finance leader with experience in complex, project-based, capital-intensive environments (e.g. construction and development, engineering, utilities).

You bring deep expertise in long-term contract accounting, financial planning, and project controls, supported by CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualifications.

You are a strong communicator with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, from scientists and engineers to executives and board members.

Known for your work ethic, diligence, initiative, and comfort operating in ambiguity, you thrive in fast-paced, innovative environments.

A NV2 clearance (or the ability to obtain it) is required so you must be an Australian citizen.
Salary / Rate

- $170k – $210k + Super + STI (commensurate with experience)
- Full-time, in-office role in Canberra
