Located in the township of Blackwater, Curragh Mine is one of the largest open-cut coal operations in the Bowen Basin, producing over 12 million tonnes annually across multiple mining areas and processing plants.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Coal Quality Engineer to join our Technical Services team at Curragh. Reporting to the Superintendent Technical Services, this permanent Monday-Friday role plays a key leadership position in delivering accurate coal flow scheduling, ensuring alignment between mine plans, CHPP capability, and the broader business sales and product strategy.
You will drive coal quality planning excellence across site, partnering with key stakeholders to identify risks, optimise resource recovery, and support high-performance outcomes across the value chain.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development, accuracy and execution of weekly CoalFlow schedules.
* Reconcile actual production against plan and maintain an accurate coal flow model.
* Oversee short-term scheduling and the release of Daily Mining and Processing plans.
* Identify, communicate and manage coal quality risks, opportunities and production impacts.
* Collaborate closely with Geology, CHPP, Mine Planning and Marketing teams to optimise product quality.
* Provide guidance to stakeholders on deviations, constraints and optimisation options.
* Mentor and support coal quality and planning engineers as required.
About You:
* Significant coal mining experience, in coal quality or mine planning.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to influence, collaborate and lead within a fast-paced operational environment.
