About the role
We have one permanent full time position for a Senior Parks Planner to join our planning and asset management team in Council's Parks Branch. The position will allow you to work on major parks projects including the next Parks Infrastructure Plan, and Local Government Infrastructure Plan. The role offers a wide variety of work delivering improvements for the city and its parks.
To successful applicant will ideally have experience in planning and policy development within a local government context, the technical ability to investigate enquiries and challenges around park network planning, and have strong communication skills in responding to and collaborating with internal Council stakeholders and community members. You will be a central point of contact within the Parks Branch working within a small close-knit team.
Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or post graduate qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Planning, Open Space Planning, or a related discipline with demonstrated application. Delivery of infrastructure or strategic planning under the planning regulatory framework of Queensland will be highly regarded.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and act upon appropriate legislative and policy and procedural changes as they occur.
* Demonstrated highly developed written and oral communication skills and ability to negotiate and communicate complex issues within Council framework of residents, other Council Departments, Councillors and statutory authorities.
* Demonstrated proficiency using Excel and other standard MS office software, and experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
* C Class Drivers Licence
