Role Overview
As the Field Research Manager, you will lead a dispersed team of Field Researchers responsible for capturing critical, on-site data across high-priority commercial properties. This data — covering current tenants, available listings, and building characteristics — is the foundation for all CoStar Group products, providing the most accurate and comprehensive market intelligence to our clients. Your primary focus will be overseeing the team\'s production and quality standards, driving high performance, and providing essential coaching and development to ensure excellence in our data collection efforts. This role is based in our Melbourne office and requires approximately 25% monthly travel to interstate capital cities.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership & Development: Build, train, mentor, and coach a growing team of 8 professional Field Researchers; provide constructive feedback and action plans to help team members grow and stay engaged; ensure the manager\'s schedule is aligned with local Field Researchers.
* Data Quality & Production Oversight: Daily review of the team\'s production against KPI metrics; review incoming data for quality relative to standards and guidelines; ensure the team meets production and quality expectations.
* Collaboration & Fieldwork: Communicate effectively with employees and internal partners; work closely with Tenant and Market Research teams; spend time in the field to demonstrate best practices; travel to local markets as required (one week monthly).
Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's degree required
* Experience: 3–5 years of direct operations management, preferably managing 5+ employees (virtual management is a plus).
* Experience managing effective KPIs and meeting performance metrics.
* Field experience is a plus.
* Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership and management skills, ability to prioritise workload and verify data quality; proven success in building cohesive teams; excellent communication and organizational skills; analytical mindset; proficiency in Excel (data manipulation, filtering, and basic formulas) and MS Office.
