Overview
Mills Recruitment is seeking a skilled Senior / Lead Structural Designer to join our client's team in Perth. This role offers the chance to work with a reputable engineering consultancy delivering innovative structural design solutions across Mineral Processing, Renewables, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI), and Commercial sectors.
We're looking for a proactive designer with proven experience in mining and industrial projects, ready to contribute across a diverse range of challenging and rewarding works.
About the Role
You'll be involved in multiple projects spanning Mining, Renewables, and NPI sectors. Project durations vary from a few days to several months, offering significant variety and hands-on technical involvement. This is a design-focused role, not a management position, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Structural Designers
- Develop standards, cad-builds and procedures to set up for success.
- Produce structural design drawings for reinforced concrete and steel structures
- Contribute to brownfield and greenfield projects
- Interpret and mark up engineering sketches and documentation for drafting
- Collaborate with engineers on calculations and design requirements
- Knowledge of Structural Engineering Design software
- Work closely with drafting and engineering teams to ensure design accuracy and clarity
- Support proposal and scope of work development
- Liaise with senior engineers, the Engineering Manager, and Directors
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in structural drafting/design particularly in mining-related projects
- Minimum 3 years' experience on Australian-based projects, with familiarity in local codes and standards
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD software both 2D and 3D
- Able to operate independently in a high-paced consultancy environment
- Perth-based or able to relocate at short notice (relocation timeline to be advised)
- Full Australian working rights required (no sponsorship available)
